In Coal Township, Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) sprawls across 8,000 acres, with hundreds of miles of trails suited for all skill levels on ATVs and dirt bikes. Choose your thrill level on a variety of terrain, with exciting challenges such as mud holes and deep ravines.
Allegheny National Forest features numerous OHV trails and riding areas that are perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in nature. The forest’s trails vary in difficulty and length, providing options for both casual riders and hardcore adventurers.
Book a guided tour (and bring your own vehicles or rentals) for access to Famous Reading Outdoors in Pottsville, where you’ll find wide-open flats, old coal mining roads, mud pits, singletrack trails, and rocky climbs. Its extensive trail system caters to ATVs, mountain bikes, and dirt bikes, making it a favorite among all types of off-roaders.
In Albrightsville, the 14-mile, hard-packed Pohopoco Tract ATV Trail provides a densely forested setting. Check the weather before your trip — heavy rains can create waterlogged trail conditions.

• Be courteous of fellow riders, and keep clear of wildlife.
• Pack it in, pack it out. Don’t leave behind any items or waste.
Did You Know? E-bikes are allowed on DCNR-managed motorized trails and public use roads unless they are marked as prohibited to bikes.
