With incredible history and a breathtaking location, Navy Pier continues its second-century evolution with brand-new venues — including Offshore Rooftop & Bar, named the world’s largest rooftop restaurant and bar by Guinness World Records — and a new hotel and marina to follow. The year 2020 marked the 25th anniversary of the Pier’s 1995 redevelopment that inspired its present-day purpose as a culture and leisure destination, continually providing unforgettable experiences and spaces for its nearly nine million annual guests. WHAT’S NEW Navy Pier is welcoming guests and providing unparalleled views and experiences with new spaces, venues, and destinations that further transform the People’s Pier. The Pier is an accessible and exciting year-round pillar for Chicago’s diverse arts and cultural landscape, and is thrilled to welcome new and returning guests. In 2019, Navy Pier celebrated the grand opening of Offshore Rooftop & Bar, which sits three stories high and is adjacent to Festival Hall. In 2021, Navy Pier looks ahead to a new hotel, Sable at Navy Pier Chicago, a Curio Collection by Hilton, and a marina. PIER PERKS Navy Pier is a unique meeting destination, due to its rich and iconic history and unique location on Lake Michigan. Known as the People’s Pier, Navy Pier stretches for more than six city blocks, and originally opened in 1916 as a shopping and recreation facility. The Pier offers an abundance of on-site entertainment, dining, and attractions, including cultural institutions Chicago Shakespeare Theater and the Chicago Children’s Museum, as well as free year-round arts and cultural programming. From art installations to the iconic Centennial Wheel, there’s never a shortage of ways to enjoy the Pier. The Pier’s convenient location near downtown Chicago and its other leisure, lodging, and dining offerings is yet another benefit. Visiting guests will also enjoy the ease of access to Navy Pier, with public transportation, on-site parking, and multiple rideshare pick-up zones. WHAT’S NEXT? This summer, the Pier will make waves with Sable at Navy Pier Chicago, a new Curio Collection by Hilton hotel featuring 223 thoughtfully appointed guest rooms, 4,352 square feet of new event space, and Latin-inspired dining at on-site Lirica Restaurant & Lounge. Not to mention some of the most spectacular views of the city, lake, and Pier, which make for a distinctive and unique experience. Along with the hotel and rooftop, a transient marina and boat slip will soon be built to create new dining and entertainment elements that are poised to elevate the Pier’s social scene. As always, Navy Pier’s programming continues to provide free, one-of-a-kind arts and cultural experiences designed to inspire, educate, and connect guests from across the city and globe.
