This historic local icon turned 100 in 2016 and celebrated with a $278 million transformation. WHAT’S NEW • A wave wall designed by famed architect James Corner provides unobstructed views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. • A rebuilt, illuminated grand staircase leads to the iconic Centennial Wheel. • An interactive water fountain doubles as an ice•skating rink in the winter. • The South Arcade indoor walkway is now a Chicago•themed food and dining marketplace. • The new Centennial Wheel stands 196 feet tall (50 feet taller than the one it replaced) and has 42 temperaturecontrolled carriages with seating for 10 people in each. NEW, DELICIOUS DINING EXPERIENCES • Giordano’s serves thin and extra•thin crust pizza, along with their famous stuffed, double crust masterpieces. • Goddess and The Baker serves made•to•order sandwiches and salads, a slew of pastries and specialty coffees. • Big City Chicken features fried chicken sandwiches, fries and floats. • Big Bowl Chinese Express is an offshoot from the Chicago favorite located on State and Cedar. • Frankie’s Pizza By the Slice is an extension of the pizzeria located on Michigan Avenue. • DMK Burger Bar & Fish Bar serves one of Chicago’s most beloved burgers. • Porkchop is a neighborhood party spot serving gourmet Southern comfort food and barbecue.
