You can find the magic in a flourishing arts scene downtown at galleries and studios where artists gather to create and display their works. Find it in unique shopping and dining, the Roosevelt Park Zoo and two of the state’s largest annual events, the North Dakota State Fair and Norsk Høstfest. NORTH DAKOTA STATE FAIR July 19-27 brings chart-topping musical acts, carnival rides, auto races, crafts and exhibits to the fairgrounds. It’s the time for fair food. (Think of anything spicy, tangy, sweet, deep fried or served on a stick!) ROOSEVELT PARK ZOO One of four zoos in the state, Roosevelt Park Zoo features many species from around the world, including tigers, African lions, giraffes and zebras. New habitats provide immersive experiences and ethically natural settings for the animals. NORSK HØSTFEST Visit the largest Scandinavian festival in North America, Sept. 25-28. Enjoy world-class entertainment, authentic Scandinavian culture, cuisine and handcrafted Norsk merchandise. Just west of Minot, visit North Dakota’s first winery, Pointe of View Winery.
