Home to Mount Rushmore

Three miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Keystone is abundant in outdoor adventure, family attractions, shopping, and dining. Visit the Keystone Visitor Information Center for maps and more information on the community.
HISTORY COMES TO LIFE
Before visiting Mount Rushmore, stop by the Rushmore Borglum Story, a museum dedicated to the history of the Memorial and its sculptor, Gutzon Borglum.
The National Presidential Wax Museum is a unique dedication to past chief executives. Walk through the history of our nation and America’s leaders where wax sculptures bring each to life and share American history.
The Keystone Historical Museum, set in the community’s old Victorian schoolhouse, exhibits mining tools, photography, and memorabilia of Carrie Ingalls, the sister of Laura Ingalls Wilder, who paved her path as a newspaper manager in Keystone.
Each October, the museum, along with Big Thunder Gold Mine and Rush Mountain Adventure Park, invite the ghosts and ghouls of Keystone’s past for the Haunting of Keystone. The annual event is an award-winning Halloween celebration that you will surely not want to miss!
