Eastern Market in Capitol Hill is your next stop, where you’ll find arts, crafts and amazing blueberry buckwheat pancakes, served Tuesday through Sunday. The city’s most historic port, Georgetown, has well over 100 shops. Browse the racks of international retailers like H&M, national brands like Rag & Bone and local boutiques like Relish. CityCenterDC, located downtown, is a haven for luxury shopping addicts, offering Paul Stuart, Gucci and Dior. After your spree, dine at Fig & Olive or Centrolina. DC farmers’ markets provide delights in spring and summer. Two newcomers are making wine in DC: City Winery serves theirs in Ivy City against a busy concert schedule. Along the Capitol Riverfront, District Winery offers tours and flights paired with modern American cuisine at Ana. Flight Wine Bar in Penn Quarter serves 500 wines from little-known family-owned estates, while Supra in Shaw pours Georgian varietals. EXPLORE Visit the National Museum of Women in the Arts downtown, the only major museum on the planet solely dedicated to celebrating the diverse achievements of female artists. Indulge in a half-smoke – a local take on a hot dog – and view the celebrated mural featuring Prince and the Obamas at U Street’s legendary Ben’s Chili Bowl.
