NATURAL WONDERS
Founded as a pioneering health retreat, Hot Springs is now a space of rejuvenation and prehistoric wonder. The town is near Wind Cave National Park and two state recreation areas: Angostura and Sheps Canyon.
Step back in time at The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, where the bones of more than 60 mammoths are fossilized in a prehistoric sinkhole. The site also showcases fossils of 87 additional Ice Age species. Educational activities and interactive, self-guided tours make this a fun and exciting experience.
REJUVENATE
Make a splash at Evans Plunge Mineral Springs, South Dakota’s oldest attraction, where you can enjoy the natural spring waters and float, slide, or try to walk on water using the gymnast rings.
Stroll by the river downtown and photograph the sandstone sculpted by the water. Cascade Falls is a popular natural swimming hole. Each August, the Fall River Hot Air Balloon Festival livens up the sky.
