AMARA RESORT AND SPA, SEDONA The glassy infinity pool, in the shadows of the region’s iconic red rocks, is more oasis than simple swimming pool. Cabanas and lounge chairs are perfect for day-to-evening leisure—swim to the edge of the heated pool each morning to listen to Oak Creek flow below, or look up at the sunset to watch light dance on the landscape. BOULDERS RESORT & SPA, SCOTTSDALE Trade the massage table for water with Watsu. A massage therapist guides Watsu using fluid movement, pressure point massage and stretching to create ultimate relaxation as you float. Or, jump in one of four pools, including the 16-years-and-older-only Spa Pool and the secluded Villa Pool. CANYON RANCH, TUCSON The Rejuvenating Waters treatment takes inspiration from Native American traditions and includes two hydrating massages (one in a hydrotherapy tub; one in a steam-filled room). Similar to Watsu, which is also offered here, the Blissful Floating Massage includes energy balancing therapy and a gentle massage in warm water. CIVANA WELLNESS RESORT & SPA, CAREFREE Wander between hot and cold temperatures as part of the spa’s Aqua Therapy Circuit. Warm environments include the rainforest-esque, humid Sanarium (a sauna) and Tepidarium Pool. The Cold Deluge Shower offers an opportunity to cool off while the Kneipp Walks, with cool and hot pools, offers a little of everything. FAIRMONT SCOTTSDALE PRINCESS, SCOTTSDALE Amenities at the Well & Being Spa encourage all-day relaxation. Breathe deep in the eucalyptus steam room, relax muscles in the all-over Swiss shower, or take a dip in the outdoor Jacuzzi grotto, complete with waterfall. Don’t miss the rooftop pool for refreshing bites and bubbly. HYATT REGENCY SCOTTSDALE RESORT & SPA AT GAINEY RANCH, SCOTTSDALE Lounge in the turquoise French-Celtic mineral pool, next to an emerald-colored lotus pond—minerals soothe your skin while underwater music soothes your mind. The steam room and sauna, as well as private hot and cold plunge pools, round out favorite classic experiences at Spa Avania. MIRAVAL ARIZONA RESORT & SPA, TUCSON Named after a Buddhist figure that represents the abundance of water, Vasudhara is an in-water Thai massage. Stretches are enhanced by underwater speakers that provide a soundtrack, an overall feeling of weightlessness, and an eye covering that blocks all light and focuses your mind solely on resting. OMNI SCOTTSDALE RESORT & SPA AT MONTELUCIA, SCOTTSDALE Wander 31,000 square feet of calm at the Joya Spa, located right next to Camelback Mountain. Chill poolside at the Joya Terrace, with lounge chairs and cabanas for unwinding. The sauna, steam room and whirlpool are available to all, but made better as part of the Hammam Ritual, which includes a warming room and herbal black soap scrub. 3 WAYS TO ENJOY NATURAL HOT SPRINGS 1 Laze in Luxury: Once host to vacationing Rockefellers and Vanderbilts, Castle Hot Springs in Morristown has transformed from a diamond in the rough to an opulent oasis. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and completed in 1896, a fire in 1976 shut the resort down for decades. Its new restoration includes a hot springs-fed swimming pool, as well as 32 rooms complete with private patios with hot spring tubs and indoor/outdoor fireplaces. 2 Easy Ahh-ccess: To reach Verde Hot Springs in Camp Verde, follow a difficult dirt road (a 4x4 vehicle is recommended) to an easy hike. Cairns along—and across—the Verde River lead the way to hot springs in the remnants of a hotel that burned down in 1962. Pools dot the cliffside above the river, including a tub that’s surrounded by visitor-created artwork-filled walls. 3 Off the Beaten Bath: From the Willow Beach trailhead, ascend more than 1,000 feet and climb a 20- foot ladder to reach Arizona (Ringbolt) Hot Springs. While the hike is challenging, it’s rewarding. Three pools are nestled between White Rock Canyon’s walls, each getting progressively warmer from lower to middle to upper. Soak in the experience.
