FRIENDS AND VISITORS,
Welcome to the great state of Nebraska!
Whether you are a first-time guest, returning to the state or a fellow Nebraskan, I am delighted that you are spending time with us in the Good Life! Grab one of our Nebraska Passport booklets along with this Travel Guide to discover unique attractions across the state.
Nebraska is home to all kinds of hidden treasures. Our lakes and rivers are popular among families and water sports enthusiasts. Be sure to check out the Platte River, the Niobrara River and the Snake River for fishing and tubing! While you are exploring these water features, have a picnic in one of our extraordinary state parks. One of my favorite activities is to go four-wheeling with my grandkids on the canal roads between Genoa and Columbus.
If you truly want to experience a place that brings all Nebraskans together, take in a Husker football game at Memorial Stadium. It’s literally the third largest city in Nebraska on game day! You can be a part of the longest sellout streak in collegiate sports history, dating to November 1962.
There’s a bounty of delicious fare to sample from our vibrant culinary scene. Go for refreshments at local breweries and wineries. Many towns, large and small, offer some of the best steaks that you will find anywhere. Some Nebraska food favorites include Omaha Steaks, Bakers Candies, Valentino’s pizza, the original Runza and, of course, be sure to grab a bottle of Dorothy Lynch dressing for the trip home!
There is no better place to dive into our state history than the State Capitol in Lincoln. Its murals and architecture perfectly illustrate our most important features, cultural influences and stories. When you travel out west, be sure to take in the awesome landscape of Chimney Rock, Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area and Scotts Bluff National Monument. Immerse yourself in the vibrant arts scene with concerts, theater performances and festivals that showcase our local communities.
This year, I challenge you to embark on an extraordinary adventure through our beautiful state. Let this book guide you as you plan your journey across our state. When your trip comes to an end, I hope we will hold a special place in your heart and leave you craving more of what Nebraska has to offer.
Sincerely,

Jim Pillen, Governor of Nebraska
