MILLWORKS (Harrisburg) Watch one or more of the resident artists at work while dining on amazing regional fare at the on-site restaurant, open-air courtyard, or rooftop biergarten. Purchase a piece or two of the artists’ works from the gallery or indulge your artistic side at one of the artist-led workshops. Be sure to check the events calendar for upcoming open houses (they’re your invitation inside the artists’ studios). PAJAMA FACTORY (Williamsport) Once the largest pajama factory in the world, it’s now an all-out creative space: amid writers’ workshops and musical performances, artists and makers work, sell their goods, and teach. Browse small-batch beauty products at the apothecary’s studio, or fashion your own garment at the clothing maker’s space. Just don’t miss the changing exhibits at the on-site Factory Works Gallery. GOGGLEWORKS (Reading) Today, this former lens and goggle factory is prime for eyeing art. Three galleries showcase regional, national, and international contemporary artists; studios house fine photographers, graphic novelists, and other creatives; and workshops explore crafts such as glass blowing and jewelry making. Time your visit with a monthly Spotlight Night to catch exhibition openings, artist talks, open studios, and walk-in workshops. BANANA FACTORY ARTS & EDUCATION CENTER (Bethlehem) No matter when you decide to visit, there will always be intriguing public art and exhibitions. But the Banana Factory really comes alive first Fridays monthly with pop-up exhibitions and drop-in classes guided by resident artists — including demos. The celebration spills into the surrounding neighborhood, where restaurants, bars, and additional galleries will help you make a night of it. PALACE THEATRE – INCUBATOR FOR THE ARTS (Greensburg) This circa 1926 theater was beautifully restored to host concerts, musicals, and, as of late, art exhibitions. The Palace’s downtown Greensburg neighbor, the historic Union Trust Building, has been retrofitted with artists’ studios, whose occupants will show their work at The Palace as part of a new Incubator for the Arts initiative.
