Grand Junction’s residents are passionate about sports — and their enthusiasm is evident in every season. Feel the excitement in the air as you watch the Grand Junction Rockies hit a home run or join a roaring crowd as the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks score a touchdown.

Colorado Mesa University’s Mavericks play National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II college football, baseball, tennis, soccer, lacrosse, softball and volleyball, so there are oodles of opportunities to join crowds decked out in maroon, white and gold year-round. The football season runs September through November with exhilarating home games at Ralph Stocker Stadium, while the CMU ice-hockey team faces off against schools from all over the country, with their season running from September–February at Glacier Ice Arena.

If you like watching Denver’s Colorado Rockies, be sure to take in a game at Suplizio Field, where their minor-league affiliate, the Grand Junction Rockies, play June–September. With ticket prices as low as $9, a game is a great way to get your whole family to the ballpark. More proof our baseball fandom runs deep: Every year in late May and early June for the past 60 years, 10 National Junior College Athletic Association Division I baseball teams from around the country flock to play in the Junior College (JUCO) World Series at Suplizio Field.
