Lively Ezov bursts with bold Eastern Mediterranean flavors. Juan in a Million’s breakfast tacos are weekend essentials. Fresh-baked bread elevates Sour Duck Market’s sandwiches. Intero whips up contemporary Italian, plus small-batch chocolates.

Flaky empanadas bring Argentina to Austin at Buenos Aires Cafe. Discada sears beef and pork taquitos in a “cowboy wok.” Crisp martinis complement shrimp po’boys at NOLA-style Uptown Sports Club. Parfait bowls fuel doodling sessions at Community Garden.

House-made pastrami is a standout at Mum Foods Smokehouse & Delicatessen. Suerte tempts with suadero tacos and smoked barbacoa, while The Vegan Nom packs tacos with plant-based goodness. Sultry Justine’s Brasserie is a French date-night favorite.

Kolaches are the perfect bar snack at Batch Craft Beer and Kolaches. Try brisket and Creole sides at MICHELIN Bib Gourmand food truck Parish Barbecue.

Coastal Fish Shop was named the 2025 Eater Austin Awards’ Best New Restaurant. Birdie’s seasonal menus have James Beard and MICHELIN nods, and co-owner Arjav Ezekiel won the 2025 James Beard Award for Outstanding Professional in Beverage Service. 

Graze on colorful charcuterie boards at Spread & Co. Sophisticated cocktails and wood-fired pizzas unite at Loudmouth. Cisco’s has been a huevos rancheros icon since 1950. Flat Track Coffee pairs an easygoing vibe with smooth espresso.

Catch blues and karaoke at old-school King Bee. Kitty Cohen’s tiny pool and beachy cocktails channel Palm Springs. Sister clubs Hotel Vegas and The Volstead Lounge share a roomy backyard for drag brunches and all-night parties.

La Perla Bar’s signature ArModelo is a michelada-inspired treat. Dance to Afrobeats and world music at Sahara Lounge. Sample South African wines at Cape Bottle Room. Or share swoonworthy cocktails at vibrant Lovebirds.

ENTERTAINMENT

Children’s museum Thinkery lets kids learn through play. Ground Floor Theatre amplifies stories from underrepresented communities. Play 27 wild holes at indoor Holey Moley Golf Club. Improv and sketch comedy light up ColdTowne Theater most nights.

In the newly designated Govalle Cultural District, walk through artist studios and galleries at warehouse art complex Canopy during their monthly Open Canopy events. For outdoor art, take a self-guided tour of East Austin’s many street murals.

EXPERIENCE AUSTIN’S BLACK CULTURAL DISTRICT

Six Square, Texas’ first Black Cultural District, is packed with history. Celebrate Black stories and art at the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center and the African American Cultural and Heritage Facility. Explore historic HBCU Huston-Tillotson University (Austin’s oldest university) and Rogers-Washington Holy Cross Historic District, a preserved mid-century Black neighborhood.
