Coffee Shops & Local Roasters
Loudoun knows its Java. Craft coffee shops and hyper-cool espresso bars are in all corners of the county, offering skilled baristas and coffee connoisseurship usually only found in big cities. Sprawling Ridgetop Coffee & Tea in Sterling doubles as an event space while Ashburn’s Blend Coffee Bar is a hip community hub. Purcellville’s Doppio Bunny keeps Purcellville latte hounds buzzed while Lovettsville’s popular Back Street Brews Coffee & Tea House does excellent espressos out of a historic log cabin. Middleburg’s Washington Street is home to Common Grounds and Cuppa Giddy Up; Leesburg is home to the Coffee Corridor
Several local roasters sell fresh beans on site or at farmers markets. Artisan roasters LoCo Beans operate out of the little red silo at Leesburg’s Market Station, while Lovettsville’s small batch Catoctin Coffee Company sells at the Leesburg Farmers Market. Round Hill native Sam Keyser’s award-winning Lone Oak Coffee Company blends are the go-to beans for a dozen Loudoun cafés and restaurants.
Downtown Leesburg is home to so many craft coffee shops it’s been dubbed the Coffee Corridor. Goosecup, King Street Coffee, SideBar, Shoe’s Cup & Cork and Cowbell Kitchen are all within three blocks of each other on King Street, while Mocatinas, Catty Corner Café, South Street Under and the faith-based SimplyBe Coffee and Trinity House Café are just a short walk east.
Several Loudoun coffee shops offer authentic looseleaf teas, including Ridgetop Coffee & Tea, King Street Coffee and Weird Brothers Coffee in the Village at Leesburg. For a truly authentic English high tea experience, Oatlands Historic House & Gardens offers seasonal teas throughout the year using looseleaf blends from Dominion Tea in Purcellville.
At Green Hills Garden & Nursery in Taylorstown, the Lee family cultivates and hand-plucks organic camellia sinensis – proper tea – using techniques from their native South Korea. The farm was a host site for a USDA tea project. Buy it at Dominion Tea in Purcellville, where Virginia chai gurus Hillary and David Coley blend, package and sell more than 100 exotic looseleaf teas sourced from around the world.
