UDVAR-HAZY CENTER A companion facility to the National Air and Space Museum in DC, this collection of thousands of aviation artifacts includes more than 300 aircraft and spacecraft on display. Highlights include the Space Shuttle Discovery, a Concorde and the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird. There’s also an IMAX Theater and observation tower offering 360-degree views of adjacent Dulles International Airport. 3. GREAT FALLS PARK Situated along one of the Potomac River’s most dramatic stretches, Great Falls Park features several overlooks with sweeping views of the thundering waterfalls that give the park its name. This 800-acre oasis managed by the National Park Service also offers hiking trails, kayaking, rock climbing, picnicking and more. 4. TYSONS CORNER SHOPPING Known as the “Rodeo Drive of the East Coast,” Tysons Corner boasts the largest concentration of shopping on the East Coast outside of Manhattan. Between the massive Tysons Corner Center and the upscale Tysons Galleria, hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities await. 5. WORKHOUSE ARTS CENTER This world-class center for the arts provides an interactive cultural arts experience while preserving the architecture and heritage of the former DC Workhouse Prison. Visit more than 65 local artists in their studios, participate in art classes, attend festivals and performances, tour the grounds, purchase one-of-a-kind gifts and learn the facility’s history. 6. WOLF TRAP The country’s only national park dedicated to the performing arts offers a diverse lineup of performances, dance and concerts at multiple venues – including the majestic Filene Center, the intimate Barns and the charming Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods. You can also explore the park’s beauty and history on trails or guided hikes. 7. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY This new museum (opening summer 2020) will tell the Army’s comprehensive history through the eyes of the soldier. Designed as a technological marvel and featuring interactive educational elements, this museum is the Army’s first official museum in its nearly 245-year existence.
