24 Hours of Music in New Orleans
Experience a full day of music, from jazz brunch at Broussard’s to street performers in Jackson Square. Bounce through clubs on music-filled Frenchmen Street and dine on late-night eats. It’s a sonic journey through the rhythms of the Crescent City.
8 AM
Start your morning with coffee and beignets from Café Du Monde in the French Quarter, then stroll in Jackson Square to hear street performers showcasing their talents and buskers providing a lively atmosphere. What a way to start the day!
10 AM
Head over to nearby Musical Legends Park, a smaller space where the sound of live jazz fills the air starting at 10 a.m.
Noon
Next up? Lunch! Broussard’s has a great jazz brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Enjoy bronzed redfish, blue crab Sardou, and other Creole delicacies while a live jazz band plays throughout the restaurant and courtyard.
2 PM
Head over to the New Orleans Jazz Museum, which is filled with exhibits and memorabilia all about jazz in the city. Catch frequent live music on Friday afternoons in the third-floor Performance Center.
4 PM
Trek to Frenchmen Street for live music at The Maison with performances usually starting at 4 p.m.
6 PM
Your night won't be complete without a stop at Preservation Hall for fine jazz with the Preservation All-Stars.
8 PM
Head Uptown for dinner and music at Bayou Bar in the Pontchartrain Hotel. The bayou burger, fried catfish sandwich, and dark roux gumbo await!
10 PM
Stay Uptown to catch a set at Tipitina’s, offering lots of musical performances throughout the year.
12 AM
Open til 2 a.m. on weekends, Maple Leaf Bar is your spot for live music, with shows that start as late as 11 p.m. some nights.
2 AM
The night’s still young, right? Head back to Frenchmen Street to stop at 30°/-90°, which stays open until 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. During special events like Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, nearby Toulouse Theatre has music starting at 2 a.m. and stretching into the wee hours!
4 AM
By this point, you may be in need of an early-morning bite and there’s no place better for that than Buffa’s. You may not find live music at this hour, but you can refuel while reliving all the great sounds you’ve heard.
6 AM
You won’t find much live music at 6 a.m. unless it’s on Mardi Gras Day, when Tipitina’s does a 5 a.m. sunrise set. Only in NOLA!
