Colter, Bright Angel Lodge has a natural, rustic character and is in the center of South Rim activity, serving as the check-in point for the renowned Grand Canyon mule rides. Several cabins hold storied histories of their own, including the Buckey O’Neill Cabin, which was built in the 1890s by William “Buckey” O’Neill, a member of Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders and a man instrumental in establishing what would eventually become the Grand Canyon Railway. From the family-style restaurant to Arizona Room’s aged hand-cut steaks to the knowledgeable activities desk, guests will be welcomed with authentic Southwestern hospitality and breathtaking canyon views at Bright Angel Lodge & Cabins. Mary Colter named the kachina that hangs over the lodge fireplace “The Bright Angel” and it still resides there today. DINING The El Tovar Dining Room and Lounge were built perpendicular to the rim and feature traditional décor and ambiance. Open year-round, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, El Tovar Dining Room can accommodate up to 211 guests; the lounge can accommodate up to 60 guests. Outdoor seating is available on the veranda, which serves drinks and appetizers. The menu offers regional and classical flavors while utilizing contemporary techniques.
